We use a custom made plugging tool that will ensure that the hole in your board is strait. We will happily plug your board for you before shipping it out. If you live on Maui you are welcome to bring your board in to have someone plug it for you. There is no cost to plug your board.
Take care when plugging stringered board, in order to avoid hitting the stringer. It’s best to put it 5-6 inches from the nose of the board. We like to use the “shaka spand” technique. To ensure that you don’t hit your stringer, plug your board away from the center if you have one stringer and in the center if you have two stringers. Use a narrow, sharp tool such as a screw driver, and poke a strait hole thru the deck of your board and thru the bottom. It is very important to make your hole strait so that the top and bottom of the plug line up together. Put the top of your plug in the hole and push it all the way in. Put the bottom of the plug in and push it in gently until you feel it connect with the top part. Screw the bottom of the plug into the top using a quarter. The plug should be snug against the board. It is not necessary to heat the screw driver and it is not necessary to use a sealant to seal your plug.
